How to convert an email into a task in Swipes?

  • Link Swipes with your Gmail via the Settings of the Swipes iOS app> Integrations>Gmail. This will automatically create an "Add to Swipes" folder in your email client.
  • Go back to your email. Choose a message that represents a to-do and move it to the folder “Add to Swipes”. The email will then convert into a task in Swipes.
  • Open your Swipes and review the new task compared to your other priorities.
  • Complete or schedule it for later.

Achieve your goals the Swipes Way!

Hi Yana, I think the addition of the Gmail integration is a wonderful idea. However, a few things I've noticed. First, I think the integration would be more useful if more than one Gmail account could be linked to my Swipes account. Also, since we can't alter the Re: line prior to moving an email to the Add to Swipes folder, the integration's use is limited. Also, I noticed that the full narrative of the email is not retained in the Swipes task and when I click on the gmail link to a specific email the original email is not found. Finally, I noticed that in some instances the same email is duplicated in my Swipes task list. On this last point, I'm not sure when this happens. However, I'm thinking that if I manually sync it a couple of times that is when it happens. The above may be the result of my not using the application correctly. The total of the above makes it difficult for me to use the app as part of my workflow. Chris

Is this not yet available on Android?

Chris, Many thanks for the feedback on the first version of the integration!

    1. We will be adding a support to more than one emails. However, for the initial testing period we only integrate with one.

    2. You can only alter the title once it's already imported in Swipes as a task. We take the email title as it is and that's the only way we can do the import. However, once we launch our Share extension you'll be able to alter more details before adding a task to Swipes from email.

    3. We don't have a permission to open the email directly from Swipes on all email clients. We have worked on a custom made solution with the help of the CloudMagic team for their users. We will be working on expanding this option to other email clients.

    4. We are after finding out what may cause the duplication. If you track any pattern, please email us on support@swipesapp.com. Thanks!

Lee, the integration is iOS only at first, but we will bring it to Android as well.

Like Chris, I have been looking forward to the Swipes integration with Gmail, but am also confused a little by the email summary that appears. On my first attempt at using the Beta version, it removed all the line endings to form the summary, hence turning a list into ungrammatical text. On my second attempt, sending "On my last attempt to send a note to Swipes via Gmail, it mangled up (i.e., removed) all the line endings." in the body of the email, it 'summarised' this as "On my last attempt to send a note to Swipes via Gmail, it mangled up (ie, removed) all the line". Notice how it appears to have removed the two periods from 'i.e.,' to 'ie,'. Also, I can understand that a summary will always be clipped in content, but from the examples I have tried it feels a little rough and ready. I would happier even if it added, when clipping text, an ellipsis "..." which would at least indicate it is a contraction. Just a thought!

Hi, was super excited to see this when I just happened to look at the FAQs today! Have been using Swipes for about 10 days and love it. Unfortunately, though, the gmail integration isn't showing up at all on my iphone, only the Evernote (which I've already integrated) and the banner "More integrations soon." No gmail. :( I've tried both un- & re-installing the Swipes app and updating my iOS to 8.2. Please help, thanks!

The updated iOS app with Gmail integration was due to be released on 15 March, IIRC. Like you, Tammy, I'd been using Swipes for some while and have been really impressed with it. I was excited, too, about the planned update but, unfortunately, the release was held up. I've only been able to play around with the addition of Gmail integration through having signed up to the Beta programme. When it does arrive on the App Store, I'm sure you'll find it was worth the wait!

Got the update and have linked my Gmail account as indicated, but when I move emails to the Add to Swipes folder, they don't appear in the app. I have unlinked and re-linked, and turned on and off the "I use Mailbox" option (which I do). No change. I would really love this feature to work!

I'm having the same issue - I've done the linking, but the emails I put in my "Add to Swipes"folder aren't appearing in Swipes App on my phone or computer. I love Swipes and would love this integration to work!

Same here as DDog and SarahG - emails do not appear in Swipes app.

Oh hey, the emails I added yesterday magically appeared this morning. I'm glad it seems to be working now, but I'll be grumpy if a day's lag is standard.

I really would prefer a dedicated email address that I can forward an email to. The Evernote way, you know.
